DAT 520: Decision Methods and Modeling Final Project Decision Analysis Research Project
Introduction
Financial aid is an assistance program from the United State, federal government to help qualified students with tuition fees and educational expenses. This assistance can either be in the form of grants, loans or work-study. But with a staggering student of over $1.2 trillion and still counting, the future of this program looks blink. About 51 percent of that is attributed to undergraduate students and more than 7 percent of loan defaults are also undergraduate. The U.S Department of Education estimated the student loan default rate to be 11.8 percent. To address the current situation or unforeseen future problem, they need to determine which type of school has the most students that need borrow the most loans. Determining such schools will the Department of Education to zero-in into such school, investigate why and proffer ways to reduce students’ dependency on student loan.
